Accessible Therapy
Quality mental health care should feel within reach, regardless of your financial circumstances.
We believe everyone deserves access to support when they need it. At JNM Wellness, we offer a range of therapy options to help make mental health care more accessible, including reduced-fee sessions with supervised student therapists and, in some circumstances, sponsored therapy for individuals experiencing financial barriers. Our goal is to make finding the right support a little easier, without compromising on the quality of care.
Our Commitment to Accessible Therapy
We believe that financial circumstances shouldn't stand in the way of getting the support you need. Our Accessible Therapy Program was created to make quality mental health care more attainable by offering professional therapy at a range of price points. We want people to be able to access meaningful support, regardless of their budget.
What the Program Offers
Our Accessible Therapy services are provided by supervised intern psychotherapists who are completing their clinical training and gaining experience under the guidance of experienced, clinical supervisors.
Our regular program fees are:
Individual therapy: $120/session
Couples therapy: $130/session
We also offer a limited number of sliding-scale options based on financial circumstances, as well as a limited number of sponsored therapy spaces for individuals who may otherwise be unable to afford care.
Whether you're looking for individual or couples support, our goal is to help you find an option that works for your needs and your budget.
How to Get Started
Getting started is easy. The first step is to book a free 15-minute consultation with one of our intern therapists. This is an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the program, and see if it's a good fit for you.
If you're interested in a sliding-scale or sponsored therapy option, let us know during your consultation. We'll talk through the available options and help determine what may work for your circumstances.
We understand that reaching out for support can feel like a big step. We're happy to help make the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible.

FAQs: Working with an Intern Therapist
At JNM Wellness, we’re proud to help train the next generation of psychotherapists by offering supervised therapy through our intern program. Intern therapists are graduate-level students completing the final stages of their clinical training. They bring fresh perspectives, deep care, and evidence-informed approaches to their work - all while receiving regular oversight and guidance from experienced clinicians on our team.
Here are some frequently asked questions about working with an intern at JNM Wellness!
What is an intern psychotherapist?
Psychotherapy interns are in the final stages of completing their Master's degree and finalizing their training in the field. They have experience with providing psychotherapy and are registered practitioners, but are still accumulating the clinical hours required for independent practice. Interns files are overseen by a clinical supervisor to ensure the best client care.
How much experience do interns have?
The answer to this question varies depending on the background of the intern, but all interns have completed the necessary coursework, training, and experiential learning before they can begin their practicum at JNM Wellness. This includes psychotherapy practice as part of their training program. Interns complete two semesters at JNM Wellness and will have different experience levels depending on the stage of practicum they are in. Many also enter the field from parallel professions, giving them a wealth of knowledge and skills to draw upon.
All interns must meet the requirements set out by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) to become registered as qualifying psychotherapists before they begin working at our clinic.
What does it mean to practice under supervision?
All psychotherapists must initially practice under supervision until they meet the requirements for independent practice. This applies to both interns and other newly registered professionals. This process normally takes a few years as the therapist gathers the required hours of clinical practice and supervision. JNM Wellness interns practice under the supervision of a more senior psychotherapist within the team. This supervisor oversees your case and reviews your clinical documentation, providing guidance and support to the intern therapist when necessary.
What fee do interns charge?
Because they are less experienced, intern fees are lower than our standard fee for psychotherapy. The standard fee is $120 for individuals and $130 for couples. We also provide an accessible therapy program with our interns which offers low fee and limited pro bono therapy for individuals who don’t have insurance benefits or the financial means to pay our full fee. This can be discussed in advance or at any point during your treatment with our administrative team, the intern, and/or their supervisor.
Are interns covered by insurance?
Yes! If your insurance plan covers psychotherapists, your services with our interns should be reimbursed. Our interns are registered professionals in their field and are practicing under the supervision of a fully qualified psychotherapist as well.
Please note that we still recommend that all clients confirm coverage of psychotherapy services with their insurance provider before starting treatment.
