As a psychotherapist specializing in women’s mental health, I offer compassionate and supportive therapy services to women looking to address any of life's many challenges. There is no “wrong” reason for coming to therapy. Most of us could benefit from a little extra support!

I graduated with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and completed my practicum in a multidisciplinary environment where I helped clients to address mental health conditions, trauma, addictions, and physical health challenges.  Before opening my private practice, I worked in the Lanark County Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Program, as well as both public and private substance use treatment centres, where I was responsible for developing and facilitating trauma-focused programming for women. 

 

Since then, I have become further specialized in working with women, particularly those in the prenatal, postpartum, and early parenting years. I have additional training in maternal mental health, treatment of perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, and infant & early childhood mental health. I am passionate about working with new moms and their babies/children, taking a strengths-based, supportive approach to boosting mom’s mental wellness while nurturing attachment with their little ones.

 

My approach is based in cognitive behavioural therapy and is always client-directed. I am a firm believer that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to provide the guidance and support to help you find your way onto your own chosen path. With a focus on strengths, goal setting, and psychoeducation, I aim to empower my clients to overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential. 

 

I’m currently offering virtual and outdoor services.  Being outside in nature is an important part of my own self-care, and I love sharing those benefits with my clients!  Please don’t hesitate to ask if you’re curious about whether outdoor sessions might be a good option for you. 

 

Virtual sessions are provided by phone or secure video. Many people are uncertain about virtual therapy in the beginning, but have found it to be just as helpful as traditional face-to-face therapy. Plus, you get the added bonus of doing it from the comfort of your own home! I have completed extensive training in providing mental health services via telehealth to give you a seamless and safe virtual therapy experience. 

 

I never want childcare to be an issue for you, so babies and young children are always welcome to be present for any type of session!

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).  I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. 

 

I work with adolescents, adults, and couples.

I believe that each person’s journey in counselling is unique and use an integrated approach. My theoretical orientation includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. 

 

My goal in therapy is to provide support to my clients in a safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental space. I aim to build a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients, while working collaboratively to help them reach their goals and needs. Together, we can find strategies and tools that can help increase your ability to cope, heal, and grow.  I am here to support you in taking the steps needed to make the changes in your life that you desire, working with you to help you overcome your struggles and supporting you as you start your journey of healing.

Sometimes in life, we are faced with challenges and difficulties that may prevent us from functioning effectively.  I strive to help guide individuals through some of their most personal and painful experiences by providing a non-judgmental environment where they can feel connected, supported, and understood.  My overall goal is to help my clients increase their personal insight, promote healthy behaviours, and improve upon or teach new methods for coping.  I provide assessment and therapy to children, youth, and adults.

Using an integrative approach, we will work collaboratively toward positive change and an overall sense of greater stability in your life.  During our first session, we will get to know each other and start to build the rapport necessary for a successful therapeutic relationship.  You will get the opportunity to tell me about yourself and the reason(s) that brought you into treatment.  I will incorporate a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities that best suit each client’s unique personality and situation.

 

Taking the first step to get help can be scary; however, by communicating openly and honestly, we can work together to ensure you get the best possible experience out of your therapeutic journey.
